According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,46,58,365, with 1,216 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a single day, while active cases fell to 15,705.

The death toll has risen to 5,30,479, with 18 fatalities, including 15 deaths reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

According to the health ministry website, active cases account for 0.04 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.78 percent.

In the last 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 393 cases.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,41,12,181, with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry’s website, the country has received 219.69 crore doses of Covid vaccine as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

Last year, the country passed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23. On January 25, this year, it surpassed the four-billion-dollar mark.

Three deaths were reported in a 24-hour period, one in Maharashtra, one in Uttar Pradesh, and one in West Bengal.
