In the early hours of Tuesday, a 70-year-old woman and her daughter-in-law’s bodies were discovered at their home in northwest Delhi’s Subhash Park.
After returning from a trip to Rishikesh and Mussoorie in Uttarakhand, the two grandsons of the elderly woman found the stabbed bodies of the lady and her daughter-in-law in their respective beds on the first and second floors of their home. The police have registered a murder case.
According to investigators, there were no indications of a forced entrance into the women’s home, and they also believed someone familiar with the women may have been involved in the killings. When the grandchildren arrived home, the front door of the house was only partially open. Police were attempting to determine if the two women were slain because of personal animosity or because they were being robbed.
The two women were identified as Vimla Devi and Doli Rai, said deputy police commissioner Sanjay Kumar Sain. “The two women shared a home with Sarthak and Shashank. They were on vacation in Uttarakhand. They came back to find their mother and grandmother dead. According to Sain, the family runs a business selling religious products.
The double murder scene was investigated by forensic specialists and a crime spot inspection team while the bodies of the women were transported for autopsies.
