According to the reports, bloodstains were discovered in the apartment rented by 28-year-old Aaftab Poonawala, who is accused of murdering and dismembering his live-in partner, Shraddha Walkar, in the city’s Chhatarpur area.
According to police sources, they will likely contact Walkar’s family for a test (to confirm the blood came from her body) and then send samples for forensic analysis.
According to sources, Poonawala also used chemicals to clean a refrigerator he bought to store Walkar’s body after chopping it up into 35 pieces. In his attempts to dispose of the body, he said he was inspired by the crime drama ‘Dexter.’
Poonawala is also suspected of leaving the tape in the bathroom running while he was dismembering Walkar’s body’so the blood could flow into the sewer.’
An initial examination of Poonawala’s internet search history reveals that he was looking for human anatomy tips while also concealing his heinous crime.
“I was scared… knew that if I dumped the body I might be caught. I browsed Google all night to search for ways to dispose of the body and not arouse suspicion… also searched (for) what kind of chopper would I have to use…”
The cold-blooded plan also allegedly included methods of ‘keeping Shraddha alive in the eyes of family and friends’ – via social media posts to give the impression that she was still alive.
According to sources, Poonawala, a trained chef, first disposed of her liver and intestines after mincing them. They were then dumped in nearby forested areas.
Poonawala led police to the dump site on Tuesday, where they discovered 13 suspected human remains. These have been forwarded for examination. The accused is expected to lead police to additional locations where he dumped parts of Walkar’s body.
The head of Shraddha Walkar and the murder weapon have yet to be found.
Also on Tuesday, police said Poonawala admitted to wanting to kill Shraddha Walkar for at least a week before her death on May 18th.
Meanwhile, Poonawala was diagnosed with a minor knife wound by a city doctor in May, the same month he allegedly murdered Walkar.
Police are also expected to contact dating app Bumble for information on his profile (Poonawala and Walkar met online) in order to determine whether he killed his partner in order to begin a relationship with another woman.
