The AIADMK is unhappy with the BJP using a photograph of M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) in a video to promote its “Vel Yatra”.Tamil Nadu BJP recently released the video for their “Vel Yatra” campaign having the image of AIADMK founder M.G Ramachandran transcending into Modi’s image. Hitting out at BJP, AIADMK Minister Jayakumar has asked, “Why have they used MGR’s image, don’t they have a leader of their own.” He said that no political party has any moral right to use the image of M.G. Ramachandran.
Defending the BJP’s promo, BJP spokesperson Narayan Thirupathi said that BJP always has the highest regard for MGR and that’s why we even named Chennai Central Railway station as Purathchi Thalaivar Dr. M. G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station. BJP sees MGR as a national leader who had a vision same as Janatha Party. AIADMK should be proud that we are parsing their leader and it is understandable that they are possessive about their leader, he added.
BJP has planned to start their “Vel Yatra” from November 6 November to 6 December connecting all important 6 Lord Murgan temples. A petition has been moved in the Madras High Court seeking a ban on the yatra.
