Hundreds of contract employees working at GMCH Sector 32 Hospital expressed their anger by holding a 1-hour symbolic protest under the banner of GMCH Joint Action Committee against the continuous delay in salary payment. Hundreds of off-duty personnel from different departments participated in this demonstration.
Joint Action Committee chief Sukhbir Singh said that on Tuesday, hundreds of contract workers from different departments of the hospital, working with the Joint Action Committee, protested against the delay in payment of salaries by the contractors every month. The delay in salary payment has been causing many difficulties for the workers. Meanwhile, the hospital management audits the contractors’ bills on the 20th of each month.
During the demonstration, contractors and hospital management assured the protesters that the salaries of all the workers would be deposited in their accounts by Wednesday. They also promised that salary payments would not be delayed in the future. After receiving this assurance, the workers ended their demonstration.
