MP Deepender Hooda today, while paying tribute to the 750 farmer-labourers martyred in the farmers’ movement, announced that the Kisan-Majdoor Aakrosh Rally will be held in Sirsa on December 17 in the memory of 750 martyred farmer-labourers, who lost their lives in the farmer’s agitation against the three farm laws to save their farming and livelihood.
MP Deepender Hooda, while addressing a press conference in Sirsa, said farmers are feeling cheated. “There is anger among the farmers that the government has not yet implemented the agreement that was reached between the government and farmer organizations two years ago. The government is working to strangle democracy in the country,” he stated.
“The power of farmers and labourers made this government bow down by following the path of non-violence, discipline and peace. We will raise the voices of the farmers and force the government to implement the agreement made with the farmers. We will not let this government forget the sacrifices made in the farmers’ movement,” he added, remembering our farmers and labourers who were martyred.
“Many conspiracies were hatched to defame the farmers’ movement that lasted for more than a year and attempts were made to tarnish the image of the agitating farmers. But despite being burnt in the fire of hatred, this movement remained as pure as gold,” he said.
“Despite the martyrdom of 750 farmers, the agreement made by the government with the farmer organizations is not being implemented. The intentions of the government are not clear, and there is tremendous anger among the farmers and labourers across the country against it,” he pointed out.
He reminded that two years ago on this day, the Prime Minister had announced to accept the demands of the farmers by withdrawing three agricultural laws. Deepender said farmers and laborers of the country were cheated, in the name of the committee. He said the Haryana government did not implement its promise of providing jobs to the families of 750 farmers, who sacrificed their lives in the movement.
“Farmers, labourers and commission agents are facing neglect from the government. The government is attacking the entire agricultural economy of the state. All the farmer organizations boycotted the committee formed after the agreement because most of the members in the committee formed by the government were the same people who were in favour of the three repealed laws, and against the farmers’ movement. What is the point of having a committee formed for farmers, that has no farmers in it,” he questioned.
In response to a question, he said that in the Congress’ convention in Udaipur and Raipur, the party committee under the leadership of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had assured the farmers of the country to accept all the demands of the farmers’ movement and implement them when the Congress government is formed. This included everything, from loan waiver, MSP guarantee, and debt relief.
