Following a significant win in Telangana, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) conducted a meeting at Hyderabad’s Gandhi Bhawan with newly elected MLAs. Among those present were prominent leaders like Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, State Congress Chief Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Minister KJ George, Congress Leader Deepa Das Munshi, and other AICC observers.

DK Shivakumar, after the meeting, stated that the newly elected MLAs have unanimously authorized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint the Congress legislature party leader. He expressed gratitude to the people of Telangana for their support, emphasizing the party’s readiness to abide by the high command’s decision.

Meanwhile, there’s speculation about the potential Chief Ministerial face in Telangana. Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao predicted that Revanth Reddy stands a chance based on his contributions. This sentiment was echoed by former state minister Konda Surekha, who affirms that Revanth Reddy is likely to assume the Chief Minister’s post.

However, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasized the party’s reliance on the high command’s decision regarding the Chief Minister of Telangana, stating that the opinions of MLAs would be considered in the CLP meeting and that they would support the high command’s decision.

The Congress’ sweeping victory in Telangana, much like its success in Karnataka, has significantly altered the political landscape in India’s youngest state. Winning 64 seats in the 119-member Assembly has bolstered the party’s presence and prospects in Telangana politics.
