For the first time following the formation of its newly constituted Congress Working Committee (CWC), the Congress will meet over the weekend in the Telangana capital of Hyderabad. On Saturday there will be a normal, CWC-members-only meeting that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will preside over. An extended CWC meeting has been called on the next day, where all four Chief Ministers and PCC presidents are invited.
The grand old party has chosen Hyderabad for the meet as Organisation General Secretary KC Venugopal said the Congress would “kick start” its campaign in Telangana. “The organisation and senior party leaders will be stationed in Hyderabad to also boost the morale of party workers.”
The Daily Guardian has learned that Congress party president Kharge would be formally speaking on the party’s role in the I.N.D.I.A alliance. PCC presidents have been summoned to discuss state alliances since there was some “confusion” over the line that would be taken by party state units. The CWC will also discuss the five election-bound states as well as issues to be brought up in the special parliament session called by the Centre. The Committee will also discuss its stand on “One nation, One election,” and the proposed renaming to Bharat. The party is also planning a massive rally in the state and is expecting over 10 lakh participants.
