The Congress on Wednesday started the search for strong candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The process of collecting bio-data for this has been started. A large number of claimants reached the state headquaradata to the screening committee formula has not been made yet about who should be given tickets.
Two points are clear now. Firstly, some MLAs will be offered to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Second, the State Election Committee of the Congress will complete its formalities on Thursday by passing a one-line resolution and handing over the responsibility of selection to the high command. After this, the real brainstorming will begin regarding the winnable candidates.
The observers deployed in the parliamentary seats will present their report before the scrutiny committee on the basis of the guidelines given by AICC. After this meeting, another round of brainstorming will begin regarding the candidates. If sources are to be believed, the party has divided the seats into A, B and C categories.
Around 11 to 12 seats have been kept in the A category, and the party is confident to win. These includeGanganagar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Nagaur, Banswara, Barmer etc. In a way, Congress will exert more power on these seats and this time it will try to spoil BJP’s plan of winning 25 LS seats in the state.
Congress has not been able to win even a single seat in the last two Lok Sabha elections. BJP has been winning 25 out of 25 seats continuously since 2014 and 2019. Congress this time is to stop the BJP from scoring a hat-trick of victories. Congress strategists believe that the plans of the Gehlot government and the caste equation of the Congress will outweigh the BJP this time.
There is resentment among the public due to Gehlot’sschemes being scrapped after Congress’s defeat, which Congress will try to take advantage of. Regarding the caste equation, Congress strategists believe that if the “Ram wave” does not make that much impact this time, then the inclination of Jats, Meenas, Gujars, Dalits and tribals will be with them.
