Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the Congress always believes in conciliation and not confrontation.
He was replying to a question from reporters about BJP candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu’s challenge to farmers that he will be going to villages and let anybody dare to stop him.
Warring said he strongly believed that everybody has a right to campaign wherever he or she wants to and nobody should be stopped from doing that, at the same time, he advised caution and restraint against any confrontation.
The PCC president suggested that the rail and road blockades must be avoided at all costs as it causes hardships to lakhs of common people who are as helpless as the farmers.
He said the Congress party has always supported the cause of the farmers, saying if it was not the Congress government in Punjab in 2020, they would not have been able to march towards
Delhi and force the Modi government to withdraw three black farm laws.
Compared to that, he pointed out, the Aam Aadmi Party government colluded with the BJP governments in Haryana and Centre and blocked farmers’ way and prevented them from moving towards Delhi. This was the reason that the farmers were forced to camp at Shambhu border, he added.
During his extensive campaigning, Warring toured different areas across the city. In the morning he met the morning walkers in the Rakh Bagh area. People greeted him and interacted with him and discussed various issues.
He told them that he had come to Ludhiana to serve them, assuring that they can feel the difference only after June 1, once the elections are complete. “I will not be waiting for the results till June 4 to start serving you”, he promised the residents, adding, “it is not a matter of month even, from when they can test his word”.
