Congress MP Jairam Ramesh reaffirmed the AAP’s offer of a shared seat while highlighting his party’s enthusiasm for the partnership. He stated, “Today, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress will officially announce a seat-sharing deal for the Lok Sabha polls.” Ramesh downplayed rumored differences and emphasized the time-consuming nature of such alliances.

All seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi are currently held by the BJP. A joint press conference is scheduled at 11:30 am in the national capital to announce the alliance formally. AAP will be represented by Sandeep Pathak, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Atishi, while Congress will have Mukul Wasnik, Arvinder Singh Lovely, and Deepak Babaria at the joint press meet.

Regarding West Bengal, Ramesh mentioned that discussions are ongoing with the TMC, keeping the doors open for an alliance. He acknowledged occasional disagreements but highlighted the shared objective of defeating the BJP in the upcoming polls.

After numerous rounds of deliberations, both parties reached a four-three alliance for Delhi, with AAP contesting four seats and Congress fielding candidates for three. There are indications of AAP getting one seat in Haryana, with reciprocal support from Congress for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat.

The AAP, having performed exceptionally well in the 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections in Delhi, is also reportedly negotiating for seats in BJP-ruled Gujarat. However, a final agreement on this matter is still pending.
