Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot, along with all Congress legislators, arrived at the assembly wearing black scarves, protesting against the suspension of MPs in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
A special session of two days has been called to administer the oath to the legislators and for the election of the Speaker, where, apart from administering the oath, no other business will take place. All newly elected members were administered the oath as legislators by Protem Speaker Kali Charan Saraf. However, as soon as the proceedings started, Congress legislator Shanti Dhariwal raised objections to the arrangements, expressing displeasure over suddenly calling the assembly session.
During this, State Congress President and Laxmangarh MLA Govind Singh Dotasara has expressed his opposition to the suspension of opposition MPs from Parliament. He also created a lot of stir in the session. After taking the oath, Dotasara said, “After taking the oath, I want to say that, my party condemn the murder of democracy and democracy that is taking place in the country today.” This statement was opposed by BJP MLAs and Protem Speaker Kalicharan Saraf also stopped Dotasra from doing so. Saraf said that apart from the oath, whatever words Dotasara has said, all these things should be taken out through action.
In a conversation outside the Assembly after the oath-taking ceremony, Govind Singh Dotasara said, “Today during the proceedings of the Assembly, all the MLAs of our party came to the House wearing black bands on their arms and protested…More than 141 MPs were expelled from Parliament merely for asking whether a sacred place like Parliament was attacked or there was a security lapse. The country’s Home Minister should speak for two minutes about how this happened and how such incidents should not happen in future. What are your arrangements for this?… The MPs of I.N.D.I.A alliance are being expelled from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This is not a good sign for democracy.”
Dotasara has alleged that the dictatorial government does not want to listen to anyone. He said, “If they do not want to listen even on issues like the security of Parliament, then what will happen to the voice of the people? That is why we have protested and warned them to stop killing democracy. Whoever is raising his views democratically, his views should be heard and whatever possible solution should be found.”
On the first day of the Legislative Assembly session, there is a possibility of completing the work of administering the oath to the newly elected members, where the oath will be administered to the remaining legislators on Thursday. After that, the election of the Speaker will take place tomorrow.
