Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dealt a significant blow to the Congress party. Congress Working Committee member and senior legislator Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya met Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday night.
This meeting is considered quite crucial. The reason for this is that Malviya was upset with the party for not making him the leader of the opposition. According to sources, discussions are also underway in political circles about Malviya joining the BJP soon. After the meeting with the CM, political discussions in the corridors are gaining momentum.
However, when Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya met the Chief Minister and the information reached Congress and the media, he stopped answering the phone.
Sources also indicate that he will meet senior BJP leaders in Delhi on Friday, and after that, the strategy for the future will be decided. Meanwhile, news of the meeting between Malviya and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has led Congress leaders to make late-night efforts to contact Mahendra Jeet Singh.
Gehlot was a minister in the government
It should be noted that Malviya has also been a minister in the previous Gehlot government. In addition, in 2008, when the Congress formed the government, he was made a minister.
Due to being a tribal face, he has a good hold in the entire region. He is a legislator from the Bagidora constituency. Along with this, he has also been a Member of Parliament from the Banswara seat once.
Seated in CWC, took Raghuvir Meena’s place
Along with Banswara, to increase contact among the people of the tribal community in the entire Udaipur division and to make Congress dominant, the Congress made a significant change last year.
He placed Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya in the Congress party’s apex committee. While CWC member Raghuvir Meena was not given a place. Mahendra Jeet Malviya was included in the CWC in place of Raghuvir Meena, the immediate past Water Resources Minister from the Adivasi belt.
Malviya is considered a leader with public support in the Adivasi belt. Before this, Malviya was also made a member of the election committee by the Rajasthan Congress Committee.
