There doesn’t seem to be much enthusiasm among Congress workers this time regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s justice journey. The Bharat Jodo Yatra in the first phase had rejuvenated Congress workers across the country.

Most Congress workers used to actively support the DP (display picture) on WhatsApp with posters and banners related to Bharat Jodo Yatra, but this time, leaders of significant rank in the organisation, like the General Secretary C. Venugopal, have refrained from putting up any DP related to the Nyay Yatra.

It seems that most Congress leaders, big and small, in Rajasthan have avoided using DP related to the justice journey. A similar situation prevails in most states. Whether they are state presidents or legislative party leaders, there is a reluctance to use DP related to the justice journey. However, the journey is currently taking place in northeastern states and will soon enter West Bengal.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra of the first phase took place at a time when there was no flood of faith in the country. The Modi government at the centre was also starting to appear less effective. The biggest reason behind this was Rajasthan. At that time, there was a Congress government in Rajasthan under the leadership of Ashok Gehlot.

The Gehlot government had implemented schemes related to old-age pensions and health, which were being discussed nationwide. It can be said that Congress was gaining strength from those schemes. Secondly, Rahul Gandhi, for the first time, was walking on the road to understand the country up close.

This was boosting the morale of leaders and workers. Meanwhile, the victory in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh had given strength to Congress. However, after the defeat in these two states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi adopted a strategy to take control of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, turning the tide in his favour.

The plans of the Rajasthan government were also rejected by the public. After the defeat in the three states, the BJP became powerful again, but the morale of Congress workers was completely shattered. To boost the shattered morale, Rahul Gandhi started his journey again at a time when there was a growing atmosphere of religious faith in the country. After the consecration of life in Ayodhya, there has been a tsunami of faith in the country.

The decision to start the journey from the northeastern states did not make much sense. What was decided happened with the journey? In Assam, Chief Minister Hemant Biswa ordered the filing of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi, putting the Congress in a dilemma. All major leaders, including former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, criticized the decision against the Chief Minister of Assam.

However, the question now is whether Congress is in a position to launch any agitation in the situation of building a Ram temple in the country. From the top, the inclination of Congress workers towards the journey also tells a lot. Not even the private staff of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have given space to the journey in their DP. In these circumstances, questions are being raised about how Congress will fight the Lok Sabha elections.
