Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma issued immediate directives on Tuesday to expedite ongoing development projects in the vicinity of the International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.
Conducting a comprehensive review meeting with officials from PUDA, GMADA, and representatives of the Punjab Cricket Association, Chief Secretary Verma emphasized the significance of completing engineering and civil works to enhance the stadium’s infrastructure.

Verma emphasized that the cricket stadium would play a pivotal role in fostering regional development. He highlighted the Punjab Government’s commitment, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, to furnish top-notch and suitable sports infrastructure in the state. Verma stressed the urgent need to finalize ongoing projects before the scheduled cricket match, assuring personal daily monitoring of the progress.

The Chief Secretary underscored the state government’s dual focus on promoting a sports culture and prioritizing city development. He asserted that hosting matches at the new International Cricket Stadium would further boost the area’s development. Verma stressed the timely completion of approach roads and bridges leading to the stadium, expressing intolerance for any unnecessary delays.

The high-level meeting included PUDA CA Apneet Riyat, GMADA CA Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Chief Engineer Balwinder Singh, Chief Town Planner Mandeep Kaur, and Punjab Cricket Association Secretary Dilsher Khanna.

Verma directed officials to provide daily status reports, ensuring a streamlined and expeditious execution of the development works.
