Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a directive to state officials, mandating that compensation be disbursed to flood victims within 24 hours. Speaking in Amritpur’s Jamapur while distributing flood relief materials, Adityanath emphasised that the “double engine” government led by the BJP is committed to standing by those affected by the floods.
The Chief Minister’s directive is timely as about 700 villages across the state are grappling with the twin calamities of floods and drought. “This strange situation is prevalent across the state,” he said.
Adityanath’s instruction for expedited compensation comes as various agencies like the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) are already engaged in flood relief and rescue operations. According to the Chief Minister, relief materials are being distributed at the government level to families who have been affected.
In an official statement released in Lucknow, it was disclosed that Adityanath had inspected flood-hit areas in the Mirzapur development block of Shahjahanpur district. There, he also distributed relief materials at the Shri Shivmangal Singh Memorial Degree College.
Speaking to reporters, Adityanath updated that 721 villages in 21 districts are currently affected by floods. As a precautionary measure, anti-snake venom has been made available in ample quantities at each community health centre.
Furthering the government’s comprehensive approach to the disaster, Adityanath added that orders have been given to conduct immediate surveys of crop damage. These surveys are meant to accelerate the reporting process so that affected farmers also receive timely compensation.
Later, in Kasganj district, the Chief Minister conducted an on-site assessment of the flood-stricken Barauna village in Patiali tehsil, and extended relief materials to the affected families, the statement revealed.
As the flood situation continues to unfold, Adityanath’s directive marks a significant administrative step aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected residents by ensuring they receive financial assistance within 24 hours. This move also reflects the state government’s urgency and commitment to address the natural calamity efficiently.
