Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday campaigned for Gurdaspur Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Shery Kalsi. Mann addressed a huge public rally in Pratap Bajwa’s assembly constituency Qadian and appealed to the people to make the Aam Aadmi Party win.
While addressing the people, Chief Minister Mann accused the previous MPs of Gurdaspur of betraying the people and said that none of the MPs from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha till now has worked for the people here. They were selfish and ignorant who only worked for themselves and their families.
Mann said that this time you have a chance to correct your past mistakes. Shery Kalsi is your own son. He knows the people here and their problems. Make him win, after becoming an MP you can go to his house and get your work done. Unlike previous MPs who disappeared after winning here.
Mann attacked the Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa. He said that the Congress party murdered Bajwa’s dream of becoming the Chief Minister and he blames us for this. He calls our MLAs mobile repairmen and material. Mann said that Bajwa says that 32 MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party are in touch with him. Whereas even his own brother is not in touch with him. He said that Bajwa’s house is the only house in Punjab in which the flags of both BJP and Congress are hoisted. There is only a distance of a few stairs between the two parties in that house.
Mann also attacked Sukhbir Badal and said that he is a person who lives in AC. He goes out after asking the temperature. When the outside temperature is 30-32°, he takes out his Punjab Bachao Yatra for two hours. How will such people understand the pain and suffering of the common people!
He said that in reality, Pratap Bajwa and Sukhbir Badal behave like that of kings and princes. None of them understands the common people. Bajwa calls the common people material and Sukhbir Badal calls them malang. But they did not know that this is democracy. The public can dethrone kings and princes here.
Reiterating his commitment towards the farmers and agriculture of Punjab, Mann said “Development of the farmers of Punjab is our first priority. After becoming the Chief Minister, I called a meeting of the officers and told them that farmers should be given continuous electricity without cuts during the day, so that their time and energy are not wasted.
“At the same time, we are also working day and night to save the water of Punjab. We have delivered canal water to 59 percent of the fields in Punjab. When I became the Chief Minister in March 2022, canal water was reaching only 21 percent of the fields. By October, we will deliver canal water to 70 percent of the fields, after which about 6 lakh tube wells in Punjab will become useless. Then the government will save around 5000 to 6000 crore rupees. With that money, we will give 1000 rupees every month to our mothers and sisters. We are working on fulfilling all our guarantees.”
Addressing the people, Shery Kalsi said that “We are not asking for votes in the name of caste and religion, we are asking for votes in the name of work done by our government in the last two years. People are very impressed with the work done by the AAP government. Wherever I go for campaigning, the people themselves say that the work that was not done in 75 years was done by the Mann government in just two years.”
