Violence between two groups on the occasion of Ram Navami occurred at several places in the country, including West Bengal.

In the wake of recent violence in West Bengal’s Hooghly and Rishra, CM Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the BJP and said, “This is not communal violence; rather, it is criminal activity.” “The saffron party hired people from outside to escalate violence.”

Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday went on to say that hooligans will not be tolerated. With the collaboration of the Centre and the state government, such incidents will be eradicated. There will be solid action on the part of law enforcement agencies, he said.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday urged the West Bengal government to file a report regarding the fresh clashes in violence-hit Rishra in Hooghly  after lawyers representing senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari mentioned the matter before a division bench.

The court directed Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, to file a supplementary affidavit before it on the incident.
