Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched faceless transport services at the zonal office of the Transport Department at IP State on Wednesday. During the launch, he locked the doors of the IP Estate Regional Transport Office (RTO). Now, Delhiites will not have to go to the RTO office and stand in line. From learning license to making vehicle registration certificate, all the work of the transport department can now be done online sitting at home. At present, 33 services are being made completely faceless.
Chief Minister Kejriwal said that there was a time when if someone had to get a license in the Transport Department, there was a lot of tension inside the house: “What to do now? Whom to catch, whom to recommend, which broker to catch, had to take leave, the person used to go once, used to stand in line, then some objection was raised. Then for the second time, the person used to stand in line and get upset and think about catching a broker. It was very difficult to get the work done like this. What we have done today is a very revolutionary step in that direction. Now there is no office left, the office is over. No files left, no lost files. Now, the 1076 person will not come to your house and take any paper from you. Now, you can do all the work of the transport department by opening the computer sitting at your home. No paper, no files, no lines, now you don’t need to take leave. Now you don’t need to catch middlemen, now you don’t need to go round to brokers. You can get you’re the work done directly by going to the computer.”
“Faceless facility has started in Delhi. Now common people will have to come to the department for only two works. First, if someone has to give a driving test, you will get an online appointment and you can come there and give your driving test, and second, if you want to check the fitness of your vehicle, then you will have to bring your vehicle. Apart from these two things, you do not need to come to the transport department.”
Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that all the services of the Transport Department have been made completely faceless. “The meaning of faceless is that now no applicant needs to come to the MLO or officer in any zonal office of the Transport Department. The whole process is now faceless. Whether you are at home, office or cyber cafe, you can do all the things on the computer sitting there, which you used to do till now by going to the office,” he said.
“We started the trial five months back on February 19 and till now we have accepted more than 3.50 lakh service requests in a faceless manner. The success rate of the applications we are approving so far is more than 80 percent and our rejection rate is less than one percent. I understand that there is no need for any applicant to take leave or come to office. In case of any problem, common people can call the helpline 1076 of Door Step Delivery of Services. Apart from this, three deputy commissioners of the transport department will sit in Surajmal Vihar, Dwarka and Sarai Kale Khan, who will listen to the grievances of the people. You can also register your complaints by visiting there. At present, 33 services are completely faceless.”
