Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday kick-started year-long activities to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence with an event which was held at Connaught Place in Delhi, announced under the Deshbhakti budget of the Delhi government recently. He unfurled the Indian flag on stage at the event and felicitated several eminent citizens who have made exceptional contributions to society.
Congratulating the people of 75 years of Independence, CM Kejriwal said that food, water, electricity, shelter, employment etc are the dreams of 130 crore Indians and that people should together make a resolution to fulfil all these dreams. He also said that people of all castes and religions should have access to equal opportunities. CM Kejriwal said by fulfilling these dreams, India will become number one again.
Chief Secretary and Delhi ministers such as Rajendra Pal Gautam, Imran Hussain, and Manish Sisodia were present. Several activities like dance and music, art and culture were organised. The program also witnessed Palash Sen’s music concert and Arvind Kejriwal sang a song with him.
CM Kejriwal said, “Congratulations on 75 years of Indian Independence. This is the time to remember the martyrdom of our brave hearts who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our nation, the struggle of thousands of our freedom fighters who gave their lives away for our freedom and their dreams of how a free India should look like. Many of those dreams have been fulfilled in the last 75 years. This is the time to remember all those dreams that have been fulfilled and the achievements that have been made by our nation. Also, remember the dreams that have not been fulfilled and make a resolution to fulfil these dreams together. AAP government has made comprehensive plans to celebrate 75 years of Indian independence.”
He added, “It will be the first time in Delhi that special classes on Deshbhakti will be organised in the Delhi government schools. A separate curriculum will be made where children will be taught patriotism for one hour daily in schools. In every home, message on the lives of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Baba Sahab Ambedkar, their struggles, sacrifices, vision, and teachings will be put across. 500 flags will be installed across 500 locations across Delhi. When we look at our Tricolour, we get a sense of patriotism, we remember Bharat Mata. This will instil a sense of patriotism and nationalism in the people as they step out of their homes for schools and offices. These flags will make people remember our soldiers who are sacrificing a lot on the borders of our nation. The dreams of 130 crore Indians are unfulfilled. The people of this country want nobody to go to sleep hungry, everybody should have clothes and shelter, good education, good healthcare, employment, free electricity and access to drinking water and every farmer and labourer should get their dues. I am happy to say that Delhi is the only city in the world where electricity is free.”
“Our country is a country of various castes and religions. There should be love and harmony amongst all castes and religions. People of all castes and religions should have access to equal opportunities. Today, on the occasion of 75 years of Indian independence, let’s resolve to fulfil these dreams of the people of our nation. Let’s make India number one in the world,” said CM Kejriwal.
