The inaugural edition of CLUE 2024 – Cardiac Lung Ultrasound Echo: The Hemodynamic Course took place on May 4th and 5th, 2024, hosted by the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC), New Chandigarh. This event, held under the auspices of Tata Memorial Centre, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, marked the hospital’s foray into academic Continuing Medical Education (CME) endeavors, aligning with the prestigious Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai’s tradition of academic excellence.
Day 1 of the CME was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCHRC New Chandigarh, in the presence of esteemed guests including Ajoy Sharma, Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Punjab, and Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Principal of AIMS Mohali. Professor JV Divatia, former Director of HBCHRC New Chandigarh and current President of the Indian Society of Anesthesiology, also graced the occasion. Distinguished faculty members from renowned institutions such as Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai, AIIMS New Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, GMCH Sector 32 Chandigarh, Max Hospital, and Fortis Mohali delivered lectures and conducted hands-on workshops focusing on bedside ultrasonography techniques crucial for prompt and accurate clinical decision-making in critical care settings. Day 2 of the CME witnessed a collaboration with the Department of Anesthesia at AIMS Mohali, featuring simulations of diverse clinical scenarios in critically ill patients. This collaborative effort was hailed as a resounding success, providing attendees with immersive learning experiences. Key highlights of the event encompassed simulation-based learning, interactive case discussions, hands-on practice sessions, and comprehensive training in various aspects of ultrasonography, including lung ultrasound, transthoracic echocardiography, and shock assessment.
Professor Ashish Gulia, Director of HBCHRC New Chandigarh, expressed pride in the initiation of academic activities at the institution, affirming the commitment to elevate standards in oncological and palliative care education across North India. He underscored the significance of such initiatives in fostering specialized skills among healthcare professionals to enhance cancer treatment and care standards in Punjab and neighboring states.
