The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala, wrote to the Chief Justice of India on Sunday, requesting guidance for all benches of the Supreme Court to refrain from passing any adverse orders related to non-appearance in matters listed on January 22 due to the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.

In the press communication, Adish Aggarwala conveyed, “I am writing this letter on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association to request your Lordship to advise all benches of the Supreme Court not to pass any adverse order due to non-appearance in any matter which is listed on 22.1.2024, due to Pran Pratishtha of Shree Ram Temple in Ayodhya.” Highlighting the significance of the celebration, Aggarwala mentioned that some Muslim individuals have also urged him to request the Chief Justice to declare it a holiday. The letter emphasized that the request is not for a holiday but to avoid adverse orders on account of the absence of lawyers or litigants. The letter stated, “Even though the main prayers are in Ayodhya simultaneously there will be prayers in temples not only in India but throughout the world. The celebrations start early morning and will go on till late evening.”

Aggarwala acknowledged that many judges and senior law officers have been invited to Ayodhya and might be participating in the prayers there. He revealed that as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and the International Council of Jurists, London, he has also been invited and intends to attend the prayer ceremony in Ayodhya.

Given that the central government and most state governments have declared a half-day holiday for citizens to partake in the prayer ceremony, Aggarwala earnestly requested the Chief Justice to advise the Supreme Court Registry to issue a public notification in this regard.
