In wake of the continuous spurt in irregularities of registries of land along with cases of taking bribe by the officials of Town and Country Planning Department of Haryana, the state government has come up with a certain set of rules as well as preventive measures to tighten the noose around the neck of corrupt officials in the state. In continuation to aforesaid, it came to fore that following the incidents of corruption in the town planning department, the CID wing of the state continues to have eye on such officials who are involved in irregularities and taking bribes. Everyone is familiar with the fact that the state witnessed a mushrooming of illegal colonies in the state at large scale which led to the requirement of a depth investigation of the matter and the same is going on.
One of the senior CID officials said on anonymity that the officials of the wing are informing the government about even minor activities going on in tehsils and offices of the town planning department to ensure transparency and smooth functioning in offices. It is pertinent to mention that both departments are under scanner after the scams, as well as irregularities, came to the fore recently in both departments. Following this, CID officials are on their toes to eye on officials of the department namely patwari, clerk, tahsildar, Assistant Town Planner (ATP), District Town Planner (DTP) along with other senior-most officials.
It is worth noting that irregularities were found in registries of around 68000 registries of land involving nearly 300 Tehsildars, Nayab Tehsildars along other Clerks and Patwaris during a period of the last four years in Haryana. Besides, a DTP named Vikram Singh was arrested by the vigilance for taking bribes in Karnal district recently and after this, the state government had ordered officials to eye on close ones of such officials to curb the menace of corruption. A Tehsildar named Rajbaksh was also arrested in the matter. Apart from aforesaid, a legislator hailing from the opposition accused even a senior official of the Town planning department during the assembly session held last month.
