Calling himself Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s “Hanuman”, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Friday said that he is an ardent follower of PM Modi and would continue to be loyal to him. I don’t need to use PM Modi’s photos for campaigning. He lives in my heart, I am his Hanuman. If needed, I’ll tear open my chest and show it,” Chirag Paswan said.
The LJP, which is an NDApartner at the Centre, has decided to fly solo in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections . While the BJP is contesting polls in alliance with JD(U), Chirag has said that he will form the government in the state with the BJP after 10 November, the day the votes will be counted.
Chirag’s latest remarks were in reaction to Bihar Deputy CM and BJP leder Sushil Kumar Modi’s statement that the LJP was nothing but a ‘vote katua’ (vote divider) party. Speaking to news agency ANI earlier in the day, Sushil Modi said that the LJP left the NDA in Bihar as it wanted more seats than the BJP was willing to give.
Questioning Chirag’s decision to laud PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah while slamming Nitish Kumar at his rallies, Sushil Modi said that “if LJP is opposing Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of Bihar, then it means that they are against both Modi and Shah,” the agency quoted him as saying.
On Suhsil Modi’s statement, Chirag said that while he was not happy with the statement, he understood that BJP leaders were pressure from Nitish Kumar. “I am disappointed that BJP leaders are using language like vote-katua. However, I can understand their problem, they are under pressure from the Bihar CM,” Chirag said.
The LJP leader is sure that his party will form the next Bihar govenrment in alliance with the BJP. “Everything will be clear on 10 November, when actual double engine government under the BJP-LJP alliance will come to power Bihar,” he said. The Bihar polls are scheduled in three phases on 28 October, 3 November and 7 November. The counting of votes will be done on 10 November.
