Four Chinese nationals were reportedly detained on Thursday for allegedly robbing Uttara in Bangladesh’s capital city of Dhaka of 50 lakh Taka.

The four citizens have been questioned and are currently in police custody, according to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. In this instance, Shah Jahangir, a Bangladeshi, and Li Wen Jing, a Chinese national, are parties. On Road 8 in Uttara 3 No. Sector, the couple owns and operates a restaurant. In exchange for Chen Yong receiving Chinese supplies for her restaurant, Li Wen Jing’s wife promises to pay him 50 lakh Bangladeshi Taka. Nevertheless, according to a case reported to Uttara West Police Station, she conducted the transaction through another Chinese national named Jilin, according to News.

On Wednesday night, Jilin was ready to provide Chen Yong Tk 50 lakh at Li Wen Jing’s restaurant. It was a while before Chen Yang finally arrived. At one point, a few people who identified themselves as his representatives—some of them women—came into the restaurant.

They informed Jilin that Chen Yang had assigned them the task of collecting 50 lakh rupees. Jilin maintained that Chen Yong was present when the money was given.

The group of Chinese nationals then escaped with the cash.

According to Morshed Alam, the deputy commissioner for the Uttara division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the four Chinese nationals were apprehended during raids in the city’s Baridhara and Uttara neighbourhoods, according to Zoom Bangla News.
