Today, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo conducted a comprehensive review of the development progress of the Skilling portal for the Skill Development Department (SDD). The portal, being developed by Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N) in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Information Technology Department of the Union Territory (UT), aims to revolutionize skill development initiatives.

Accompanied by the Secretary of SDD and key officials including Commissioner Secretary of IT, Secretary of Planning, Director General of Planning, and other concerned officers, Chief Secretary Dulloo engaged in detailed discussions with stakeholders regarding the scope and features of the portal.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Dulloo emphasized the importance of ensuring the portal’s utility and relevance to the people. He sought insights from developers on the diverse range of courses to be offered, as well as the provision of alerts and information for applicants. In a bid to cater to the linguistic diversity of the region, he advocated for the portal to be made available in multiple languages.

Additionally, Chief Secretary Dulloo proposed the inclusion of motivational videos showcasing various self-employment schemes across sectors, echoing the success of the Daksh Kisan portal. This multi-faceted approach aims to empower individuals across different sectors, fostering a culture of skill enhancement and entrepreneurship.

Providing further insights, Secretary of SDD, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, highlighted the diverse range of opportunities that the portal will offer. From agriculture to automotive, BFSI to construction, and beauty & wellness, the portal is poised to host a plethora of online courses tailored to meet the needs of individuals seeking skill development opportunities.
The collaborative efforts between various departments and institutions underscore a collective commitment to promoting skill development and fostering economic empowerment across the UT. As the development of the Skilling portal progresses, it holds the promise of unlocking new avenues for growth and prosperity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
