Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann intensified his campaign for the November 20 byelections, addressing two rallies in Chabbewal to support AAP candidate Ishank Chabbewal. Mann urged voters to back AAP for steady development, asserting that having a ruling-party representative would bring faster progress to the region.
Highlighting fulfilled promises, Mann said, “We don’t make false promises. Today, 90% of households receive zero electricity bills, and over 45,000 youth have been given government jobs.” He also cited the establishment of over 850 Aam Aadmi Clinics and the transformation of government schools. He pledged the promised Rs 1,100 monthly for women would soon be delivered, calling opposition promises mere “lollipops.”
Mann criticized Congress and BJP for neglecting the people, claiming they colluded for years without real progress. “They’ve kept Punjab in the dark,” he said, accusing past leaders of focusing on personal gains rather than addressing Punjab’s needs. He emphasized that the AAP, contrasting with previous governments, began fulfilling promises as soon as it assumed power. He added that Congress and BJP leaders no longer visit villages due to their lack of achievements.
Reflecting on his own commitment, Mann stated, “I left my career to serve the people, and our national convenor Arvind Kejriwal left his post as Income Tax Commissioner.” He pledged to modernize Punjab’s villages, offering Rs 5 lakh to villages that elect Sarpanches unanimously.
AAP candidate Ishank Chabbewal echoed Mann’s sentiments, stating that unlike prior administrations that only worked in election years, AAP began immediate development efforts, including free electricity, job creation, and industry growth in Chabbewal. He requested the Chief Minister establish more local industry and educational institutions, widen roads to religious sites, and add 10,000 ration cards to support local families.
In his concluding appeal, Mann urged voters to elect representatives from the ruling party for seamless development, promising a fast-tracked path to prosperity for Chabbewal if AAP is elected.
