Ahead of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s campaign visit to Punjab for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Congress candidate for the Jalandhar parliamentary seat, Charanjit Singh Channi, expressed on Wednesday that CM Kejriwal is unreliable and should be opposed.

“Kejriwal, who is involved in a liquor scam and is out of jail for only 15 days, can’t be trusted. A big liquor scam happened in Delhi and the same happened in Punjab as well. We demand an inquiry into it. Instead of being welcomed, he should be opposed,” Channi said.

Charanjit Singh Channi is competing against AAP’s Pawan Kumar Tinu and SAD candidate Mohinder Singh Kaypee in Jalandhar. All 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, including Jalandhar, will undergo voting in a single phase on June 1. As per sources within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Punjab on Thursday.

Party sources indicated that a large-scale roadshow is scheduled to take place in Amritsar on Thursday, marking the commencement of the AAP national convener’s campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also expected to participate in the roadshow, which is set to begin at 6 pm on Thursday. Additionally, they mentioned that following the roadshow, Kejriwal will be visiting Shri Harminder Saheb to pay his respects.

Remarkably, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have independently chosen to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, but they collaborate as part of the INDIA bloc in Delhi. In Delhi, there is a seat-sharing arrangement between Congress and AAP, with AAP contesting four seats and Congress fielding candidates in three constituencies, as per the agreement between the INDIA bloc members for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi.
