Shiromani Akali Dal Treasurer and two-time former MLA NK Sharma have said that former MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra has destroyed Akali Dal in many state districts and his expulsion will only prove helpful for the party.

In a statement released today, NK Sharma said that Chandumajra started his political innings from Patiala and took the help of late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra. He said that subsequently he started opposing Jathedar Tohra. He said that after demise of Jathedar Tohra he started opposing late Capt. Kanwaljit Singh. After his demise he started opposing former Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra. He said that in the recently held Parliamentary elections, Prof. Chandumajra did not support him as was expected and took workers from Sanour and Ghanour to Sri Anandpur Sahib, leading to the party’s defeat.

He said that it is an historic truth that since last 30 years Prof. Chandumajra is solely responsible for defeat of the party in Patiala.

He said that after Patiala. Prof. Chandumajra shifted his base to pious land of Sri Fateghgarh Sahib and ensured not only crushing defeat of Akali Dal but complete destruction of the party.

After this he took to Sri Anandpur Sahib and caused immense loss to party in Ropar, Mohali and surrounding districts.

He said that party gave Prof. Chandumajra and his family so much, but he was focussed only on himself and worked for his own welfare at the cost of the party.

He appealed to party President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal that such leaders should not be inducted into the party again and instead party should encourage hard working young leaders who want to make their party strong by working at grass root level.
