Chandigarh is currently witnessing allegations of election fraud in the mayoral election raised by the opposition. Chief Media Coordinator Sudesh Kataria, associated with Chief Minister Manohar Lal, has accused the active recruitment stoppage gang during this period. Responding to the allegations made by AAP and Congress, Chief Minister Manohar Lal used a metaphor to target the parties accusing them, stating that those who can’t dance blame the stage.

He emphasized that such parties do not have public support, which is why BJP’s candidate became the mayor. Additionally, the Chief Minister targeted Delhi’s Chief Minister, advising them to focus on politics and leave their mark, rather than getting rejected by the public.
Recently, the mayoral election took place in Chandigarh, where councillors had to cast their votes. BJP had 15 councillors and one MP, totalling 16 votes.

On the other hand, the India Alliance, consisting of AAP and Congress councillors, had a combined strength of 20. Simple calculations suggested victory for the India Alliance due to their numerical advantage.

However, the election results saw BJP’s mayoral candidate winning. During the vote count, the opposition accused the election officer of declaring 8 votes of AAP and Congress councillors invalid, leading to chaos at the counting venue.

Regarding this matter, leaders from Congress and AAP have launched an attack on the BJP. Delhi’s CM and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP for election fraud in the mayoral election, questioning how trust can be placed in the results of larger elections when fraud is happening in smaller ones. He highlighted the significance of approximately 90 crore votes in larger elections.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted about the mayoral election, stating that BJP committing murder of democracy in front of the whole world. He went on to question what could be expected from a party capable of such actions to stay in power in Delhi. He drew a historical parallel, mentioning that years ago on this very day, Godse assassinated Gandhi, and today, the followers of Godse sacrificed his ideals and constitutional values.
