In the latest incident in Sector 25 of Chandigarh, a 21-year-old individual fell victim to a brutal attack by a group of assailants wielding sharp-edged weapons, iron rods, and sticks near shanties in the sector on Monday night. Sadly, this marks the second murder in Sector 25 within a week. One of the attackers, identified as Ajay (alias Kallu), has been arrested by the police, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other culprits, with two of them identified as Dharmender and Sabu, according to Chandigarh DSP (Central) Gurmukh Singh. The victim, Ajay, had left his home on his motorcycle on Monday night after receiving a phone call. According to his brother Deepak’s complaint, outside his home, the assailants struck Ajay’s bike from behind, initiating the attack before swiftly fleeing the scene. Ajay was promptly rushed to PGIMER, where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. Police attribute the attack to personal enmity, revealing that Ajay himself had a criminal record, facing charges in eight cases, including murder, assault, burglary, theft, Arms Act violations, rape, and rioting, dating back to 2016 and 2017. Investigators suspect that Ajay was targeted in retaliation for his assault on a Dhanas resident named Bawa in June of this year.
