Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Reiterates No Displacement for Residents During Rehabilitation Colony Survey

Regarding on going survey of Rehabilitation Colonies, the Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh, reiterated the assurance given by the Hon’ble Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh that no resident would face displacement or removal till the policy decision is taken by the U.T., Chandigarh Administration after completion of the survey. However he also clarified that mere appearance of name in the survey would not confer the ownership right to that person. The Deputy Commissioner further solicited the suggestions from the representatives of political parties on smooth conduct of the survey. The Deputy Commissioner assured that necessary consideration would be given to the suggestions given by the political parties.
It has been decided that no document which is created after 18th August, 2023 would be considered during the survey to curb any type of fraudulent/ malpractices. He appealed to the general public to cooperate with survey staff and not to enter into any new transactions with regard to tenement sites after 18 August 2023 as no benefits will be given based on such transactions. Survey is likely to get completed by October 2023 and its findings will be considered by the UT Administration for decision in the interest of residents of rehabilitation colonies.
