Chandigarh Cyber Cell arrested 3 cyber thugs, including a girl, for running a fake call center in Noida. The arrested accused were identified as Shailesh Kumar Singh, a resident of H Normal. A 41, Dayal Bagh Colony, Surajpur, Faridabad, Haryana; Aarti Mehra, a resident of Manila Apartment, Indrapiram, Ghaziabad, UP; and Avinash Fatmar, a resident of Raipur Sector 126, Noida, UP. The accused used to cheat people by providing them with fake appointment letters under the guise of offering them jobs.
Police have registered a case against the accused. They recovered 9 mobile phones, 3 laptops, and one SIM card from the possession of the accused. The accused used fake call centers to victimize unemployed young men and women. Providing information, Inspector Ranjeet Singh, SHO of the Cyber Crime Police Station in Sector 17, Chandigarh, said that the above case was registered based on a complaint from Baljeet Kaur, a resident of village Dariya, UT Chandigarh. The cyber thugs mentioned above had defrauded Baljeet Kaur by promising her a job in the bank. Using the complainant’s mobile number multiple times, the callers requested interviews for jobs in the call bank, falsely claiming to facilitate employment at HDFC. They sent fake documents/appointment/contract letters from HDFC Bank through bank and email.
They asked for various charges on their email ID for ID documentation/security and requested a deposit of Rs. 62,835 into account number 31823659898 (SBI Bank). After the money was deposited, the accused ceased communication. Later, it was discovered that the victim had been cheated. The police registered the case and conducted a raid. Based on secret information, raids were conducted in Sector 18 of Faridabad and Noida (UP), leading to the arrest of all three.
