The process of election has started in the organization of NCP. Chhagan Bhujbal has emphasized that this time only an OBC leader should get the responsibility of the state president.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar has offered to quit the post of Leader of Opposition, expressing his desire to work in the party organization. After this, Chhagan Bhujbal, another leader of the party, demanded that an OBC should be made the state president of the party. For this, he also suggested his name.
Interestingly this claim of Bhujbal has come post Ajit Pawar on appealed to the leadership of NCP to free him from the responsibility of Leader of the Opposition and give him a role in the party organization. He put this demand during the 24th Foundation Day program of NCP in Mumbai.
But more important is Chhagan Bhujbal insisted that a leader from OBC should be made the President of Maharashtra NCP. Has not made any big public statement in recent past but this time he made his demand publicly. This itself shows that who must be behind Bhujbal. Chhagan Bhujbal said, ‘I would also like to work as the state president.
There are many OBC leaders in the party like Sunil Tatkare, Jitendra Awhad, Dhananjay Munde. In the party, the process of election within the organization has started and anyone can express their desire to become the state president. There is nothing wrong in this.
OBCs constitute 54 per cent of Maharashtra’s population and if an OBC is made the state president, the party can bring them along.
When NCP was formed in 1999, Chhagan Bhujbal was made the first state president. Chhagan Bhujbal said that the current state president Jayant Patil is on this post for five years. Bhujbal said that BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Congress state president Nana Patol are also OBCs.
It is a rule that if the state president of the party belongs to the forward community, then the leader of the opposition should be from the backward community so that all can get representation.
