The Central Railway Protection Force has successfully recovered stolen property amounting to Rs. 1.38 crore between April and November 2023, as disclosed in an official statement.

The release underscored the commitment of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to ensuring the safety of passengers and their possessions. It highlighted the implementation of Operation Yatri Suraksha, aimed at promptly addressing security concerns of passengers by enhancing emergency response capabilities. Additionally, the operation sought collaboration with the Government Railway Police (GRP) to prevent and detect offenses related to passengers.

Over the last eight months, the RPF wing of the Central Railway achieved the retrieval of stolen property valued at Rs. 1.38 crore. The Solapur Division excelled in this effort, recovering stolen property worth Rs. 99.29 lakh through 33 registered cases, leading to the prosecution of 102 individuals.

In the Mumbai Division, the highest number of cases were registered, totaling 169, with 287 individuals prosecuted and the retrieval of Rs. 8.88 lakh. The Bhusawal Division recorded 77 cases, resulting in the prosecution of 159 individuals and the recovery of stolen property amounting to Rs. 23.80 lakh.

The Nagpur Division documented 56 cases of stolen property, leading to the prosecution of 170 persons and the recovery of stolen property worth Rs. 4.09 lakh. Similarly, the Pune Division registered 37 cases, prosecuting 78 individuals and recovering stolen property valued at Rs. 2.10 lakh.

The statement acknowledged the commendable efforts of RPF personnel in reclaiming abandoned passenger belongings, including cash, jewelry, and important documents, and returning them to their rightful owners on numerous occasions during this period.
