The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has given permission for the merger of Tata Group’s aviation company Air India and Vistara. However, this permission is subject to certain conditions. After the merger of Vistara, Air India has now become the second largest domestic airline and the largest international airline in the country.
It is considered a big step for the Tata Group to expand its airline business. Vistara Airline is also known as Tata SIA Airlines, as it is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines. The CCI said on social networking platform X on Friday that it has approved the merger. “CCI has approved the merger of Tata SIA Airlines with Air India and the acquisition of certain shares in Air India by Singapore Airlines subject to compliance with the voluntary commitments proposed by the parties,” it said.
