A delegation of Police Co-ordination Committee of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal consisting of Charanjiv Singh, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, Anil Vohra, Harjeet Singh and Navdeep Sharma called on Surendra Singh Yadav IPS, DGP Chandigarh and welcomed him to the city beautiful on behalf of traders of city.

The delegation while forwarding the welcome letter introduced Chandigarh Beopar Mandal as being a non political apex body of traders of the city beautiful and that it constitutes representatives from more than 125 Market Welfare & Trader Welfare Associations of the city. Aims and objective of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal are unity amongst traders, welfare of the traditional Markets and the traders of the city by maintaining a good liaison with Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh Police, Municipal Corporation & other related Govt. departments.

The delegation members said that city shopkeepers are hopeful that beat system shall get further strengthened and issue of security of markets shall be taken on priority by insuring presence of police/beat staff especially during evening hours to prevent any untoward incidents. Night patrolling of markets is also required to avoid incidents of thefts.

Movement of smooth traffic and management of parking in the city markets also required immediate attention of Chandigarh Police. CBM also suggested that Samavesh Advisory Committee should also be formed at higher level and functionaries of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal should be made part of the same.

The delegation as a representatives of the trading community of Chandigarh assured full co-operation in all positives steps taken by Chandigarh Police in there endeavor towards maintaining law and order of the city to ensure welfare of the citizens particularly that of traders.

Surendra Singh Yadav IPS, DGP, Chandigarh said that beat system is a foundation of good policing and it will be strengthen further as 700 new personals are joining the police force soon. He also assured to do the best for smooth flow of traffic and management of parking in the city. It was decided to hold police–traders meeting presiding our by DGP after the elections to discuss the issues in detail.
