A CBI photographer took pictures of the scene that day where a BJP activist Abhijit Sarkar was killed in Beleghata. Abhijit’s friend identified him at the scene where he was beaten and later photographed. There was a BJP office next to the spot, where vandalism occured. Officers of the DIG rank of CBI’s special investigation team (SIT) visited Abhijit’s house on Thursday.

They took the details of the whole incident from Abhijit’s grandfather Biswajit. The details included exactly when the attack took place that day, from which direction it was carried out, and how many people were there.

It is also being questioned how many people have been arrested by the police so far and who could not be arrested. Abhijit’s family has expressed anger over the matter to the CBI officials. It is to be noted that when the CBI officials were coming to the spot on that day, the investigators of the Homicide branch also wanted to come. But later it was seen that only CBI officials visited the spot. Abhijit’s family has also questioned the impartiality of the Homicide Branch investigation.

Allegedly, the Homicide Branch investigators were biased in their investigation. On the same day, Abhijit’s grandfather Biswajit told CBI officials, “This is a planned incident.” CBI detectives have spoken to him twice.

On Monday, CBI officials first spoke to Biswajit. In the two-hour conversation, he mentioned the names of several officers of the Kolkata Police.

They have made allegations of bias against them. Biswajit showed some video clippings to the officials at the time Abhijit was being beaten to death. He also told the CBI officials the names of several political leaders.

Incidentally, 64 CBI officials have been appointed for the post-poll violence cases in West Bengal. A special team of 109 people will be handling the investigation of post-vote violence cases.

The CBI team also visited the house of BJP worker at Bhatpara Coolie colony on Thursday regarding the attack on J.P. Yadav. After the voting, a bomb was hurled at him.
