In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended an employee of Sub-District Hospital, Sopore, in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday, in connection with a bribery case involving the issuance of a date of birth certificate.
According to a statement released by the investigating agency, a case was registered based on a complaint against an official working in the date of birth section of Sub-District Hospital, Sopore. The allegations included demanding a bribe from the complainant for the issuance of a birth certificate for his daughter.
The accused, as per the complainant, initially demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000, which was later negotiated down to Rs 3,600. The CBI, acting on the complaint, conducted a swift operation to apprehend the accused.
The culmination of the operation saw the accused being caught red-handed after accepting a bribe of Rs 3,600 from the complainant through an online transaction, the statement highlighted.
