The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Head Constable of Nand Nagari Police Station, North East District, Delhi, for accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000. The CBI registered a case against the accused based on allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a complainant. The accused allegedly demanded the bribe to allow the construction of the complainant’s house and threatened to demolish it if the bribe was not paid. After negotiation, the accused reduced the bribe amount to Rs. 40,000. The CBI laid a trap and caught the Head Constable red-handed while accepting the bribe. Searches were also conducted at the accused’s premises. Further details are awaited.

In a separate incident on February 16th, the CBI apprehended three officers, including the Regional Passport Officer (RPO), of the Regional Passport Office in Jalandhar in a bribery case related to passport issuance. The arrested officers are Regional Passport Officer Anup Singh, Assistant Passport Officer Hari Om, and Assistant Passport Officer Sanjay Srivastava, all posted at RPO Jalandhar.
