Reaching a new low in India-Canada’s bilateral relations, Canadian foreign minister Melanie Joly has recently declared that Ottawa continues to stand by the allegations that it was Indian agents who killed Indian-designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
But what’s notable is, that so far, no proof or evidence has been hinted at New Delhi’s involvement in the killing.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Joly declared that an investigation is still ongoing into Nijjar’s killing. Which is currently being conducted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
In the end, she stated that Canada will continue to give protection to its citizens. Reports Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC).
“Canada’s position has always been clear. Our job is to protect Canadians and we stand by the allegations that a Canadian was killed on Canadian soil by Indian agents. Now, the investigation by the RCMP is being done.” said Joly.
Talking about its relationship with India, the Canadian’s foreign minister further said that she won’t comment further in its relationship with India. Adding its always better to keep diplomacy under wraps.
Further declared that by protecting Canadians, they’ll continue to maintain their sovereignty and to protect rule of law.
“I won’t further comment and no other official from our government will further comment but I am telling do on the question of relationship with India is I think that is always better when diplomacy remains in private and Canada will continue to stand by first protecting Canadians, making sure that we also protect our sovereignty and, in the end, also we need to protect our rule of law.”- Joly.
Her statement was made days after the Canadian police arrested three Indian nationals accused of involvement in Nijjar’s murder.
Interestingly, the police have not talked about any link regarding India’s involvement till now.
