Indian Killed in Canada Stabbing, Suspect In Custody

The Indian Embassy in Canada on Saturday morning reported being deeply saddened to hear of an Indian national having been killed at Rockland in the vicinity of Ottawa, due to stabbing.

Embassy Confirms Arrest of Suspect and Issues Statement on X

Although full details of the incident were unavailable immediately, the Indian embassy in Canada reported the police had arrested a suspect.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin,” the Indian embassy in Canada said in a post on X.

Canadian Media Reports Death in Clarence-Rockland

A person was reported dead in Clarence-Rockland and another arrested, CBC News quoted Canadian news as saying. It was not known if this was the incident the Indian embassy was talking about on X.

Incident Took Place Near Lalonde Street

The incident occurred close to Lalonde Street around 3 pm Friday (local time). Which was around 40 kilometers east of central Ottawa according the report cited by Ontario Provincial Police.

Police have not yet released the cause of death or if the person in custody will be charged with anything, the CBC News report stated. They told Radio-Canada that additional information would be made public in a coming statement.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police advised Rockland residents to anticipate a heightened police presence within the area.
