After his interaction with PM Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently, announced, that he ‘sees’ an opportunity to collaborate with the newly elected Indian government, including economic relations and national security.

Talking about the interaction in CBC News Ottawa, Trudeau declared, that One of the notable aspects of the Summit is that ‘you get an opportunity to engage directly with a huge range of different leaders with whom there are various issues and certainly with India, there are massive people to people ties, they’re really important economic ties.’

He also added, there is alignment in various issues, that we need to address as democracies within the global community and it also gives them an opportunity to engage on various key issues.

‘There’s alignment on a number of big issues that we need to work on as, as democracies as a global community. But now that he (Modi) is through his election, I think there is an opportunity for us to engage, including on some very serious issues around national security and keeping Canadians safe and the rule of law that we will be engaging.’ emphasized Trudeau.

Controversy Of Hardeep Singh Nijjar Killing

These remarks come amidst the tense relationship prevailing between India and Canada. Which downgraded, due to allegations made by Trudeau over ‘potential’ involvement of Indian spies in killing of khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Reacting to these accusations, India call these claims as ‘absurd and motivated. Later, India accused Canada of providing space to khalistani elements in their country.

But recently on Friday, PM Modi, has recently shared an image of two heads of the country shaking hands with each other with a line ‘met Canadian PM Justin Trudeau at the G7 Summit.’

Later, when Trudeau was asked about Nijjar Killing, he simply said, ‘There is work ongoing very much’

Meanwhile, the G7 summit was conducted from June 13 to 15th in Italy’s Apulia region, which India attended as an ‘Outreach Country’.

During the summit, PM Narendra Modi interacted with several international leaders including Uk Prime minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron. Then, he had an important meeting with US president Joe Biden and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.
