Upset with the attitude of Jalandhar West MLA Sheetal Angural, the PCS Officers Association has announced the decision to go on a strike on 25 July with the employees of DC Office Jalandhar. This comes after Friday’s incident, when a high voltage drama took place between MLA Angural and ADC Major Amit Sareen.

On 22 July, a member of the Legislative Assembly entered various branches of the DC office in Jalandhar with several camera-borne people and misbehaved with the staff. The Punjab Civil Services Association reacted strongly against the MLA and released a statement condemning MLA Angural’s behavior.

The letter stated, “Every government employee works within the ambit of the law and gives due respect to MLAs as per protocol. Getting basic respect in return from them is the least that we can expect. The PCS Officers’ Association strongly condemns this. Unbecoming behaviour and actions by a public representative in Jalandhar, including his behaviour with the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and other senior functionaries present in the office. As a mark of protest, all officers shall be wearing black badges on 25 July 2022 for the entire day. The association further supports the action taken by the Punjab State District (D.C.) Office Employees Association (Jalandhar Unit) and resolves to brief the highest echelons in the state regarding the matter. “ Earlier, speaking to The Daily Guardian (TDG), ADC Major Amit Sareen said that what Sheetal Angural did was uncalled for and should be considered a cheap publicity stunt. The major reason behind this was that DC transferred two tainted registry clerks and other clerks to other posts that annoyed the local MLA.

He further said that the selected transferred people might also be providing them with money to get their work done. He also revealed during the conversation that when he rescued a 15-day-old girl from getting sold, Sheetal Angural requested him to give the girl to the accused woman, even after knowing that she was not her real mother.

On Friday, Sheetal Angural went to the office of DC Office Superintendent Parminder Kaur and said that there was a line of agents outside. If a person comes directly to get the work done, he is not even asked, whereas the work gets done quickly through the agent’s medium.
