In a proactive operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a potential drug smuggling attempt in Punjab’s Fazilka district on the night of Thursday. Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF troops detected the movement of a drone near Raitewali Bhaini village during a search operation.
During the meticulously planned operation conducted on the intervening night of May 8-9, 2024, vigilant BSF personnel intercepted the drone and successfully tracked its movement. Subsequently, a packet containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 550 grams, was discovered.
Officials reported that the packet, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a steel ring and two illumination strips attached, was recovered following a tip-off from a local villager. BSF troops swiftly cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough search, leading to the recovery of the contraband from the villager’s house in Raitewali Bhaini village.
The successful interception and recovery underscore BSF’s relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking along the border, ensuring the safety and security of the region.
