After the Delhi Government’s order for entry of BS 6 buses in Delhi, the bus services of many states going to Delhi have been affected. But people going from Chandigarh to Delhi will not have to face any kind of problem. Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) has said that all the buses going to Delhi from their side are BS-6. For this reason they will not be affected by this order.
About 22 buses go to Delhi every day from Chandigarh. Of these, 15 buses go directly to Delhi Bus Stand, while seven buses go to other cities via Delhi. These include two buses each going to Jaipur and Rewari and one bus each going to Agra, Vrindavan and Narnaul. All these buses are BS-6 models.
Chandigarh’s transport department on Wednesday issued a tender to purchase 60 non-AC buses for long distances. A pre-bid meeting has also been scheduled for this on 8th November. All the 60 buses purchased in this will be BS-6. After this, the number of buses will be increased on the Chandigarh to Delhi route.
Under the electric vehicle policy implemented in Chandigarh, all diesel buses will soon be replaced in the city bus service. For this, the administration has made preparations to purchase 100 new electric buses. These buses will be purchased under the Pradhan Mantri E Bus Seva Yojana. In which subsidy will also be given to Chandigarh Administration by the Central Government.
