Nidhi Chaphekar, a survivor of the 2016 Brussels terror attack, has documented her experiences in her book “UNBROKEN,” which has drawn praise from External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Jaishankar commended Chaphekar’s resilience and courage, highlighting her remarkable spirit in the face of adversity. Chaphekar, a former air hostess with Jet Airways, gained global attention after a haunting photograph of her emerged from the Brussels airport bombing, showing her bloodied and dazed. Despite severe injuries, including burns and shrapnel wounds, Chaphekar’s determination remained unshaken.

“Glad to meet Nidhi Chaphekar, a terror attack survivor from the 2016 Brussels attack. Received her book: UNBROKEN. Admire the spirit and courage. The title of her book sums up her attitude,” said Jaishankar in a post on X.

In her book, Chaphekar recounts her journey from the harrowing moments of the attack to her ongoing recovery, emphasizing the strength she found within herself. The 2016 Brussels terror attack, claimed by the Islamic State group, resulted in 32 deaths and left many others injured, highlighting the lasting impact of such atrocities. The Islamic State group in Europe (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attacks, which occurred close to the NATO and EU offices. Seven years after hundreds of passengers and transportation workers suffered injuries, many victims, their families, and rescuers are still scarred. Subsequently, the attacks’ official death toll increased to 35.
