Comedian-actor Raju Srivastava breathed his last breath at the age of 58, on Wednesday at AIIMS Delhi, after being admitted there following a heart attack on 10 August. His demise came as a huge setback for his fans. Soon after the news broke out, politicians, actors and millions of his fans took to the Internet to express grief.
Taking to Twitter, President Droupadi Murmu tweeted in Hindi, “The untimely demise of comedian Raju Srivastav is extremely sad. He had enthralled the audience with his comical performances. He gave a new identity to the comedy scene in India. My condolences to his family and fans.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Raju Srivastava brightened our lives with laughter, humour and positivity. He leaves us too soon but he will continue to live in the hearts of countless people thanks to his rich work over the years. His demise is saddening. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.” The PM shared a photo of himself with the comedian along with the tweet.
Celebrities also expressed their grief over the demise of comedian Raju Srivastava.
Singer Anup Jalota shared a message video. He said, “To find a personality like Raju Srivastava is difficult. I know him since the starting days of his career. He used to consider me as an elder brother.”
Veteran actor Anupam Kher took to his Instagram handle and posted a video along with a caption. He wrote, “Our beloved Raju Srivastava! The whole country has stopped laughing when you left! She does not echo in giggles! What was the hurry to make God laugh!”
