BRICS is not against United Nations but it is pushing necessary reforms in the universal organisation, said Dr. Victoria Panova, head of the BRICS Expert Council of Russia.
In a media briefing organised by Sputnik News on the sidelines of three-day Raisina Dialogue here, Panova said that UN with over 200 members is the only universal organisation. It is not wise to destroy what is there until no proper substitute is there, she added.

To a query regarding making India a permanent member of United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Dr. Victoria Panova said that BRICS is pushing necessary reforms in the universal oranisation in the new world order.
The head of the BRICS Expert Council of Russia informed that a two-day convention of BRICS-Civil would be held in Moscow from July 3 where nationally oriented NGOs would find prominence.

Dr. Victoria Panova also favoured for creation of a digital payment mechanism that will allow BRICS member states to continue trading among themselves without the threat of unilateral sanctions.

“We are focusing on fair and just development goals, ethics of new technology, sovereign, economic and financial development, educational and labour, information security and digital development, public health and human wellbeing, cultural and heritage preservation, ecology and energy transition,” she said while explaining the various segments that will be built upon during BRICS-Civil convention.
The convention will reflect the world majority with nine main working groups. Nationally oriented NGOs will be our priority, not transnational ones, she said while describing the priorities.

Dr. Victoria Panova also highlighted the difficulties that Russia had to face because of sanctions imposed by the west and argued that Russia has emerged stronger from the western sanctions which were imposed after start of the Ukraine crisis.
