The long-standing rivalry between Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh seems to be reigniting. Recently, Honey Singh stirred up the tension by questioning Badshah’s rapping skills.

Rivalry Reignited

Although it seemed last year that the two had put an end to their 15-year feud, Honey Singh’s latest Instagram post suggests otherwise. He shared a clip from the 15th season of Indian Idol, where Badshah showcased his freestyle rap alongside Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal. In the video, Badshah raps, “Dilli ka golgappa, Mumbai se bhelpuri, Chandigarh ki lassi ko gadd gadd pi jaate hai.”

Honey Singh took a jab at this by posting the clip on his Instagram Stories, adding, “Aise lyrics likhwane hai bass taqdeer ban jayegi meri (Such lyrics will make my fortune),” along with a laughing emoji.

So far, Badshah hasn’t responded to the dig.

The Backstory of the Feud

Today, both Honey Singh and Badshah are prominent figures in the music industry, with massive fan followings. Interestingly, they started their musical journey together as part of the rap group Mafia Mundeer, alongside Raftaar, Ikka, and Lil Golu. The group produced several hits like Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane. However, after internal conflicts, the group disbanded in 2012, leading to public spats between Honey Singh and Badshah.

In an interview with Lallantop, Honey Singh mentioned that Raftaar has released more diss tracks than Badshah against him, but he respects Raftaar’s talent. He also revealed that Badshah’s family had once approached him for a collaboration, which he declined.

In a podcast, Badshah spoke about Honey Singh’s struggles with his health, stating, “It’s unfortunate what Honey Singh went through… In today’s age, as an artist who’s so big and has a responsibility, it’s your duty to protect your mental health. It sounds glamorous and adds to your story, but that pain isn’t worth it… You have to maintain your sanity, and every move counts when you’re playing chess at such a major level.”
